Setup
There are a few requirements needed for Crowd Control to work! You will need a mod manager, such as Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to proceed. We can provide some basic steps to import our mod, but you may want to follow tutorials get more familiar with them if you are not already using them.
- Skyrim Script Extender for VR (SKSEVR)
- The CC mod: SkyrimVR-CrowdControl.zip
- VR Address Library for SKSEVR
- Engine Fixes VR (and Part 2)
- Skyrim VR ESL Support
From here, you may have a few options, based on how you manage mods. See Vortex Mod Manager or Mod Organizer 2 below.
Before you launch the game, make sure the Crowd Control desktop app is open and Skyrim VR is selected. After the game is launched and a save is loaded, you can press START in the CC app to receive effects!
TIP: The default VR experience in Skyrim leaves a lot to be desired. Once you get Crowd Control setup and tested, you may want to review this reddit post to get the most out of Skyrim VR!
Vortex Mod Manager
If you plan to use Vortex to manage you mods, you will need to make sure CrowdControl.esp is enabled and you launch using SKSE from Vortex. Tested using the latest Steam version.
- Download all the requirements from Setup
- Enable CrowdControl and other mods: from Vortex > Skyrim Special Edition > Mods.
- Enable toolbar: from Dashboard > Tools > Enable toolbar.
- This makes it easier to launch SKSEVR!
- With the Crowd Control app open and Skyrim selected, launch Skyrim Script Extender from the toolbar of Vortex.
- The CC app should be all green on the right hand side.
- Do not launch Skyrim from the CC app!
Mod Organizer 2
- Download all the requirements from Setup
- Import the mods by using “Import from archive” and check them to enable.
- Select Skyrim VR from the Crowd Control desktop app, which activates the connector.
- With the Crowd Control app open and Skyrim selected, Launch Skyrim with SKSEVR from MO2.
- Press Start Session from the CC desktop app.
Troubleshooting
If your setup is not working with the above info, it’s best to setup a new instances with ONLY the Crowd Control mod & requirements setup. Then test to confirm everything works as expected.
Once you confirmed CC is working, add in your other mods!
As another warning, not all mods may work with CC, so test before going live!
