Need help? Reach out via Discord or check the FAQ
1. Start with the App
- Open Crowd Control Desktop App
- Select Project Zomboid from the game list
- Use “Build 42” for the latest Steam version
- Follow the Auto Setup checklist (left side of app)
2. Test Before You Stream
- You can only test effects after pressing “Start Session” in the Crowd Control app
- Always test a few effects before going live to confirm effects trigger as expected
Skipping this step can lead to broken streams and confusion!
Game Version
Our support has been tested with the latest Steam version of the game.
We also support Build 41 as a different selection.
Multi-player / Servers
Hosting a game:
All users should have the Crowd Control mod enabled to receive effects.
Make sure to also add the Crowd Control mod to the server settings:

Dedicated Server: We have little testing with dedicated servers, however, as long as the Crowd Control mod is enabled on the server, it should work just like when you host.
Mods
Other mods may work with ours, but have not been tested. If you run into any issues, try with a fresh mod setup. You may need to review logs to see if other mods may be causing issues with Crowd Control, found at %userprofile%\Zomboid\Logs
Uninstall
To uninstall the Crowd Control mod:
- From the CC desktop app, select your game.
- Press ALT + Click on “Mod Installed” to run the uninstaller.
