Hardware (FXPAK) Support

Crowd Control supports hardware for some systems and some games.

Support

If you have any questions or need help with this setup, please head over to our discord for additional support!

Not all SNES games are supported! The following are emulator only:

  • Kirby Super Stars
  • Super Mario RPG
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island

Recommended Hardware

Getting your flash card from the source helps support its creator, but any “PRO” SD2SNES or FX PAK with the USB port will do.

Firmware

Keeping up to date with firmware will help get the most of your flash card, and should have support for Crowd Control. We specifically need usb2snes support by RedGuy.

When changing out firmware, make sure you backup old sd2snes folder!

Connect to Crowd Control

When you are finally ready to play with Crowd Control, we make the setup as seamless as possible. With the above firmware and hardware:

  1. Connect your FXPAK to your PC and power on your SNES
  2. Open up the Crowd Control desktop app and select your game.
  3. Select the ROM you want to play with.
  4. If everything is detected, you can press “Connect to FXPak” to load the ROM onto your system.
  5. Press Start Session and send a test effects!

Setup Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Use a known working cable.
  • Use a cable with a Up Angled Micro USB for FX Paks, like: https://www.startech.com/en-us/cables/usbaub2mu
  • A cheap USB hub will probably not work. Directly connect to your PC.
  • The Crowd Control SD2SNES Windows service should be running before you plug anything in.
  • Our setup is not compatible with usb2snes. While that is running, Crowd Control will not work.

EVERDRIVE N8 PRO

Hardware support for NES will be back soon!

In the mean time, check out our blog post on how we made hardware support work in CC1!
