How to Set Up Automatic Effects with Crowd Control's Chaos Mode

Chat isn't the only thing that can trigger effects during a Crowd Control session. Chaos Mode sends effects on its own, at random intervals, filling in the quiet moments when viewers aren't actively redeeming anything.

What Is Chaos Mode?

Chaos Mode automatically triggers effects at random intervals, independent of viewer activity. It's designed to keep a session lively even when chat is quiet, without you having to manually queue anything up.

How to Enable Chaos Mode

There are two ways to turn it on. Click the robot icon in the bottom right of the Crowd Control app, or go to the Live page, open the Test Effects tab, and select Manage Chaos Mode.

Chaos Mode Presets

To make setup easy, Crowd Control offers five built-in presets: Lurker, Chill, Average, Active, and Aggressive. Lower presets trigger effects less often and scale back further when your viewers are already sending effects on their own, so Chaos Mode stays in the background rather than competing with real chat activity. Higher presets trigger more frequently and stay active even during busy stretches.

Advanced Settings

If the presets don't quite match what you want, the Advanced Settings let you fine-tune the behavior directly:

• Min and Max time between trigger attempts – the range Chaos Mode uses to decide how often it even considers sending an effect

• Chance to trigger per attempt – the percentage odds that an effect actually fires each time Chaos Mode makes an attempt

• Activity-based chance reduction – how much that percentage drops based on how active your viewers already are, so Chaos Mode naturally steps back when chat is already triggering effects

Excluding Effects from Chaos Mode

Not every effect is a good fit for random triggering. Check the Effect Manager while Chaos Mode is enabled and deactivate any effects you don't want it to send on its own. This keeps Chaos Mode limited to effects you're comfortable seeing fire unprompted.
