Local Server Setup
Use local server if you plan on playing alone. This will automatically download and run a server on your local machine!
- Open Crowd Control Desktop App
- Select Rust from the game list
- Follow the Auto Setup checklist (left side of app)
- Server Type: Local
- Click to install
- This may take several minuets to complete, based on internet speed.
- Launch Server
- This may take several minuets to complete, based on PC specs.
- You should notice “CrowdControlServer [Procedural Map]” in the bottom left corner when the server is fully running.
- Launch Game and connect to server
- Press F1 to open the console and enter:
client.connect localhost
- Press F1 to open the console and enter:
- Connect to Crowd Control: Follow the setup below

Remote Server Setup
Use this to setup if you play on a remote server with others.
- Our mod requires Oxide
- Download our mod here: Rust-CC.zip
- Extract the contents to your servers root directory.
- Our files will be at
oxide/plugins/ - Our mod includes these files:
CrowdControl-Effects.jsonCrowdControlRust.csCrowdControlRustExamples.cseffects.json
- Connect to your server and Connect to Crowd Control
Connect to Crowd Control
After you login to a server running the Crowd Control mod, you can start the connection process!
- Press ENTER to open chat and type:
/cc link - Press
F1 - You will be given an 8 character auth code.
- You have 3m to enter this code before it expires.
- In the CC app, select Rust and enter in the 8 character code.
- Authorize your account and your session will be active.
- You can now send yourself test effects to confirm all is working.

Mod Compatibility
- Other mods may work, but have not been tested with Crowd Control.
- If you have issues, try with just Crowd Control before reporting.
- If you find a mod that causes issues, let us know!
