Crowd Control Setup Guides

1. Start with the App

• Open the Crowd Control Desktop App

• Select Dark Souls Remastered (Mod Engine 2) from the game list

• Follow the Auto Setup checklist (left side of the app)

2. Test Before You Stream

• Effects can only be tested after pressing "Start Session" in the app

• Always test a few effects before going live

• Skipping this can lead to broken streams and confusion!

Mod Compatibility

• Our mod uses Mod Engine 2

• Mod package: DarkSouls-CC.zip

• If you used the old Crowd Control mod (dinput8.dll), Auto Setup removes it

• Crowd Control does not modify your game files. It runs from its own folder and loads through Mod Engine 2

• Seamless Co-op is not compatible with this mod

• Other file-replacement mods (Daughters of Ash, enemy randomizers, etc.) may work, but are not tested with Crowd Control

• If you have issues, try with just Crowd Control

Item Randomizer

• The Dark Souls Item Randomizer by HotPocketRemix runs alongside Crowd Control

• The randomizer shuffles items by editing one game file. Crowd Control does not touch game files, so the two do not conflict

• Setup order: install Crowd Control first, then set up the randomizer

• Put DarkSoulsItemRandomizer.exe in the game folder, next to DarkSoulsRemastered.exe

• Run it with the game closed, choose your options, and click Export

• Export writes the randomized items and keeps a backup of the original file, so you can undo it later

• Then start your session in the Crowd Control app as usual. Randomized items and Crowd Control effects run together

• Randomize only at the start of a new playthrough, never mid-run

• Crowd Control plays from its own save folder. Start a fresh character for your randomized run. Characters from your normal install will not appear there

• Removing Crowd Control does not undo the randomizer. Restore normal items with the backup file the randomizer kept

Game Version

• Tested with the Steam version of Dark Souls Remastered (patch 1.03.1)

Notes

• The mod forces the game to run offline. Click CANCEL if asked about online play.

• Your saves are redirected to a DARK SOULS REMASTERED Crowd Control folder. Your original saves are left untouched.

• Crowd Control saves cannot be used without the mod. Going online with them can get your account banned.

• The mod shows an in-game overlay with the status of running effects. Press F8 to show or hide it.

• If the app loses contact with the game, press F9 to force a reconnect.

Uninstall

• In the CC desktop app, select your game

• Click the trash icon next to "Mod Installed" to run the uninstaller
